General Management

There is little doubt that sustainable market success can only be achieved on the basis of intelligent management processes. The design of these management processes must be constantly adapted in today’s dynamic markets. Long-term success arises from the will to systematically analyze and resolutely tackle new design forms and implement them creatively.

    Course content and organization

The course has a modular structure and comprises a varying number of modules taken from six subjects, depending on the course taken. The modules are structured according to the blended learning concept. The module components are didactically prepared study texts and/or readers, (online) seminars or equivalent, home-written papers and written examinations. In addition, the master’s program includes the module “specialist report,” which consists of a written term paper and presentation and is seen as preparation for the subsequent final module that includes a written master’s thesis. The modules will be offered from summer semester 2023 for the following management-related subjects:

Subject 1: Strategic and International Management
    Subject 2: Organization and Leadership
Subject 3: Networked entrepreneurial thinking and business simulation
Subject 4: Marketing and market-oriented corporate management
Subject 5: Information and Knowledge Management
Subject 6: Corporate management and controlling

The content of these six subjects can be studied in different intensities (building on each other) as part of the master’s degree course in General Management as well as the basic, advanced and specialization courses. The modules to be taken (with options) depend on the degree program.

In addition to the subject-specific management skills taught, the study programs aim to improve the key qualifications required in practice. Students report – often during their studies – that the “Hagen Management Studies” program served as a door opener for the positions they aspired to.
