Master of Mathematics: Course Content

Mathematical principles and concepts help us to recognize patterns and complex relationships and to develop abstract ideas. They serve as the basis for many scientific disciplines, from physics and biology to computer science and economics. They make it possible to analyze and explain phenomena in nature and society. In the field of engineering, mathematical models are indispensable for the development of new products, systems and technologies. But in addition to the actual concrete calculations, a mathematical way of thinking helps to broaden your intellectual horizons by enabling you to grasp abstract ideas, analyze complex relationships and be more innovative in your work.

Studying mathematics is not only theoretical, but also extremely practice-oriented. You learn how to develop mathematical models and apply them to real-life situations. In this way, you will not only improve your analytical skills, but also hone your problem-solving skills. A master’s degree offers you the opportunity to strengthen your knowledge and skills in a flexible course of study without compromising on academic quality.

During your master’s degree, you also have the opportunity to specialize in three different areas: applied algebra and discrete mathematics, analysis and numerical mathematics, or stochastics and mathematical physics.
