Forensic Psychology for Legal Professions

Psychology plays an increasingly important role in the legal setting. However, recognizing and minimizing psychological influences on legal judgments, decisions and actions is not part of legal training. In addition, expertise as a legal-psychological specialist requires in-depth knowledge.

With this in mind, the FernUniversität has developed an academic continuing education program to teach this content to practitioners and interested students.

Qualification: Certificate of further education according to Section 62 of the HG NRW
Study duration: 2 semesters
Start of studies: Summer (1 April) or winter (1 October)
Registration deadline: 1 Dec to 1 Mar (summer) or 1 Jun to 1 Sep (winter)
Costs: €2,500 (discounted price: 10%*)

Target Groups

This continuing education program is aimed at professionals who work in the fields of youth welfare, correctional services, or family and criminal law. For example, guardians ad litem, judicial officers, employees in youth welfare offices, law enforcement officers. Advanced students in relevant degree programs are also welcome to take part.
