Summer School in Constitutional Law (May-July 2025) in Hamburg for LL.B. Students
[14.01.2025]The EDELNet Partnership is delighted to announce that we are inviting applications to the annual EDELNet LL.B. Summer School. The program is open to all LL.B. and EJP students of FernUniversität in Hagen and will be recognized as a international language course in regard of the JAG NRW. LL.B. students will be able to use the course as an elective module (Wahlmodul) on completion of a written homework of the course.
The online phase of the program will start at the beginning of May 2025 and the face-to-face part will take place this year in Hamburg (Germany) from 14th to 18th July. As in previous years, 30-40 students from the FernUniversität Hagen (Germany), the Open Universiteit (Netherlands), UNED (Spain), Open University (UK) and University of Wroclaw (Poland) will meet at a wonderful location in the EU and have the opportunity to work together in a series of activating seminars and simulations designed to offer a high quality learning experience and gain insight into legislative processes, rule of law operations and other vital aspects of legal systems in liberal democracies. In addition, participants will get a valuable chance to have a meaningful exchange with students and instructors from other European jurisdictions in an institutionally supportive and intellectually challenging environment.
The programme begins with an online preparatory phase in May during which participants are expected to take a few short online courses and to meet twice via Zoom. Structured around the professional processing of a hypothetical case simulation, the face-to-face part of the programme will focus on the performance of legal professional tasks to help students become aware of the intricacies of the real operation of law in practice and learn how to argue using the language of the law in different legal contexts. In the course of the programme you will receive well-structured and intensive training not only in legal matters, but also in soft skills such as academic debate, legal English, intercultural communication and team work.
Successful applicants are expected to have a good command of English. A basic knowledge of constitutional law is recommended.
Participants are expected to make their own accommodation and travel arrangements. All accepted participants will receive guidance for the travel and accommodation process. Accommodation and travel expenses may be (/partly) covered through Erasmus+ Short-Term Mobility funding or other funding opportunities at your home university. Please contact your local EDELNet coordinator for further information.
