Ask Your Institution

The International Office supports you with your project and provides you with institutional backing. It acts as an intermediary and a point of contact both with external partners and, internally, with the relevant departments involved. While the implementation space for research projects is relatively flexible, international teaching is dependent on the institutional framework of the participating institutions, which provide the framework of what is feasible (curriculum specifications, examination practices, etc.)

The International Office can assist you in the following ways:

• Moderation of the cooperation: Especially at the beginning of a cooperation, the International Office can assist you in facilitating strategically important meetings or workshops. The colleagues in the International Office can assess the institutional implications of collaborations and provide information on possible support services at different stages of the project. In addition, the International Office acts as a contact point for the central services/international offices at the other universities.
• Contacts and networks: The International Office administers the FernUniversität’s institutional international contacts and networks and helps you to establish contacts with suitable partners.
• Financial support: Ask about funding opportunities for your project.
• Institutional support: Ask about the support available from the university administration and university management.
• Cooperation agreement: Explore with the International Office whether an institutional cooperative agreement is needed.
• English support: The FernUniversität offers various services in the area of English support as well as English Language Services. These include, but are not limited to, the translation and proofreading of English-language study materials or applications. If you would like to combine your teaching offer with a supportive language offer for students, get in touch with English Learning Support.
• Community of Practice: Become part of the community of practice of international teachers at the FernUniversität. It is an opportunity to share your experiences with your colleagues and be inspired by their best practices. An informal email to the International Office at prorektor.internationalisierung is sufficient for this purpose.
• Public relations: Contact the Public Relations or Marketing Office for advice on increasing the visibility of your project – both internally and externally.
