One important question is how authoritarian regimes in post-Soviet/post-socialist countries function in the era of globalization and digitalization. Belarus is a prime example of such a process. Over the last decade, the authoritarian public sphere in Belarus has begun to change, leading to the emergence of new forms of political subjectivity and civic culture. As a historian, I try to analyze this transformation by examining historical narratives and initiatives in the realms of academic and public history that developed during this period in Belarus.
