This volume of the European Journal of University Lifelong Learning (EJULL) focusses on the question of how universities are (or should be) addressing diversity and inclusion and which roles lifelong learning (LLL) play in this context. LLL can serve as a vehicle for inclusion and diversity, especially through continuing professional development and expanding university staff awareness of the challenges and barriers faced by learners from marginalised groups; at the same time, it helps foster sensitivity in university staff towards the structural inequalities and hidden curricula that exist within their own institutions. This triple mandate appears well represented by the essays of this volume, each presenting inspiring and concrete solutions based on existing projects and initiatives in their respective professional and institutional higher education contexts.
