Start-up Forum

Vision

The Start-up Forum is a networking format for young companies, those interested in starting a new company and start-ups from the Hagen region. It is co-organized by the South Westphalian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SIHK Hagen) and the Work - Education - Digitization research group (ABD) at the FernUniversität in Hagen. The aim of the Start-up Forum is to create a space for exchange and networking between interested regional start-ups and knowledgeable experts and multipliers.

How does the Start-up Forum work?

The focus of our Start-up Forum is to provide a space where our participants can get to know each other and network. At the same time, we offer professional input and helpful experience. The format comprises three slots:

  • Pitches from start-ups

At the beginning of every Start-up Forum, two to three start-ups present their business idea or their business model in a short pitch. In this way, the participants successively get a chance to get to know each other.

  • Lecture by experts from the worlds of science and business

The focus is always on a presentation by experts (e.g., investors, scientists, founders, disseminators). The lecture topics are derived and selected from the feedback and interests of the participants.

  • Networking and finger food

Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to exchange ideas and network over finger food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Where and when does the Start-up Forum take place?

Every 6–8 weeks / for around 2 hours

Next Meeting:

22 February from 6 p.m.

Where: FernUniversität in Hagen

Topic: How can industry and start-ups work together?
This February we are talking about cooperation with existing companies and how to enter into beneficial partnerships with them. To this end, we have invited a speaker who has frequently sought out and established mutually beneficial collaborations with start-ups.

Christoph Kotthaus is head of networking at AVENTUM and is a key figure in the integration of start-ups and their expertise into company projects. AVENTUM, which entered the market as a start-up in 1999, is now successfully established and has retained much of the start-up culture that characterized its beginnings.

This makes AVENTUM and Christian Kotthaus interesting contacts for new entrepreneurs to learn from.
