Career
Marco Fries studied business informatics part time at the University of Siegen. He combined his studies with his job at GIB GmbH, a company that creates in-house SAP-based software solutions. Fries wrote his Bachelor thesis while working at the company. After graduating, he continued working at the company as a software developer and later as a consultant and project manager.
After two years working full time, he reduced his working hours at the company so he could take a master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction at the University of Siegen. He wrote his master’s thesis in the area of sales planning and machine learning with the title: “A design case study on sales forecasting using machine learning in the food industry.”
After another two years as a departmental manager for global consulting, academy and support, he started work at the University of Siegen as a research assistant in August 2021. Since May 2023, he has been at the FernUniversität in Hagen where has worked on the projects ExPro and SkaLab as well as on a project to develop a regional center of the future for artificial intelligence.
