Marcus Specht takes on new professorship
[10.01.2025]At the beginning of the year, Prof. Dr. Marcus Specht took over the research professorship "Learning Sciences in Higher Education" at CATALPA. "I am looking forward to advancing research in the field of learning with AI," says Specht. "CATALPA offers optimal conditions for this.

As a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Specht has been closely associated with CATALPA for several years. The psychologist works primarily in an interdisciplinary capacity. Most recently, he was Professor of Digital Education at Delft University of Technology and Director of the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Center for Education and Learning. He has also held visiting professorships at LIACS (Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science) and Erasmus University Rotterdam.
"His expertise and international network make him an ideal fit for CATALPA, but also for the FernUni as a whole," said the designated rector of the FernUniversität in Hagen, Prof. Dr. Stefan Stürmer, when presenting the certificate of appointment. We as a faculty are also very much looking forward to working with him," added Prof. Dr. Andreas Mokros, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology.
