What is my role in CATALPA?

As a Postdoctoral Researcher in Learning Analytics, I research how to make sense of educational data to acquire useful insights into the learning processes. I am interested in disseminating novel data analysis techniques and developing learning analytics solutions for practitioners and students to support effective assessment and feedback practices.

Why CATALPA?

CATALPA has an excellent support for early-career researchers. In addition, it offers great opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary research.

    • Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center of Advanced Technology for Assisted Learning and Predictive Analytics (CATALPA), FernUniversität Hagen (since October 2024).
    • Senior Researcher (2022-2024), PhD Research Fellow (2017-2023) at the Centre for the Science of Learning and Technology (SLATE), University of Bergen, Norway.
    • Board member of the International Society for Quantitative Ethnography (since 2021), Chair of the International Society for Quantitative Ethnography Resources Committee (2021-2023)
    • My research focuses on making sense of educational data and novel data analysis techniques. I am passionate about developing materials for teaching and learning emerging analytics methods, such as Epistemic Network Analysis and Transition Network Analysis.
    • I am interested in creating practical data-driven solutions for practitioners and students and supporting effective assessment and feedback practices through educational technology. As an extension, I also aim to examine the effectiveness of learning analytics tools, such as dashboards.
    • I am interested in critical evaluation of emerging technologies (e.g., generative artificial intelligence) and exploring ways how new technologies can support not only teaching and learning in higher education but also research practices.
    • In my research, I focus on topics, such as computer-supported collaborative learning, peer assessment, writing analytics and learning design.
