Contents
The seminar initially presents the debating competition “NRW debattiert Europa” (NRW debates Europe) and then introduces the art of debating. Participants get acquainted with the most important debating formats, presentation as well as techniques to present arguments. They compete with teams from other North Rhine-Westphalian universities and their contributions are evaluated by an independent jury.
This year, the topic centers on the future of Europe concerning the role of important institutions, such as the EU Commission or the European Council, European right to vote and European integration. Based on prior knowledge about the fundamentals of the European Union, participants gain deeper insights and study elementary aspects of the European Union in more detail.
Seminar structure
This seminar is taught as a coordinated combination of synchronous (two important online sessions and two online preparatory debates) and asynchronous (group tasks in between online sessions) forms of learning.
Technical requirements
