Travel

By Plane

The nearest international airport is Dusseldorf (DUS), with direct connections to all major European countries as well as destinations in North America and Asia.

From DUS airport, you can reach Hagen via train in approximately one hour. There are about four connections per hour. You can find travel options at the Deutsche Bahn website. Unfortunately, there are no direct connections, so you have to change either at Dusseldorf main station, in Essen, or in Bochum, depending on your connections. A 2nd class one-way ticket costs 16.50 Euro (fare category D).

For visitors from overseas, Frankfurt airport (FRA) may also be a valid option. There is a direct train connection from the airport to Hagen main station.

By Train

Hagen main station is an IC and ICE station with direct connections to Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, and Cologne.

From the train station, you can reach the campus via direct bus in about 20 minutes. Take the bus 515 to Loxbaum or Hohenlimburg and get out at "FernUniversität" bus station. The bus runs every 15 minutes. A ticket costs 3 Euro. Note that the bus ticket is already included if you arrive by train with a valid VRR ("Verkehrsverbund Rhein Ruhr") ticket, for example from DUS airport!

Alternatively, a taxi from the train station to the campus costs about 15 Euro.

By Car

From South-East (Frankfurt via A 45):

Take the junction "Hagen" to A 46, direction Hagen-Zentrum. Take the first exit "FernUni". Turn right on Feithstraße and after 300 meters again right on Universitätsstraße.

Note that the A 45 is closed near Lüdenscheid due to long-term construction work! From Frankfurt, it is usually better to take the A 3 via Cologne.

From South-West (Dusseldorf, Cologne), North (Bremen), and North-East (Hanover) via A 1:

Take the exit 87 "Hagen Nord", direction Zentrum (Dortmunder Straße). Follow the signs to FernUniversität (second exit at first roundabout, third exit at second roundabout on Boeler Ring, straight to Hagener Straße and Feithstraße). About 4 kilometers after you have left the motorway, turn left into Universitätsstraße.

Parking

You can use any of the parking lots (see the campus map). There will be enough parking space at the conference days.
