- Successful poster presentation at the sAIOnARA conference
Jan Hüwel showed his most recent research at the sAIOnARA conference in Bielefeld on 26 June in the form of a poster and a short presentation. This poster was voted to be a top 3 poster by the conference attendees and thus, was awarded a prize. Moreover, this conference offered many opportunities to discuss problems and advances with colleagues from research, project organisation and industry. - Conference presentation at the ICDE 2024
Max Pernklau presented our current research on the acceleration of range queries in metric spaces. - Conference presentation at the EDBT/ICDT 2024
Jan Hüwel presented our current research on structural analysis in time series. - 3rd Workshop on Knowledge Graphs and Big Data in conjunction with the IEEE Big Data 2023
As part of the 3rd Workshop on Knowledge Graphs and Big Data at the IEEE Big Data 2023 conference in Sorrento, Ms. Linxen presented the paper Knowledge Graphs for Competency-Based Education. The position paper describes an approach to representing the Four Component Instructional Design model as a knowledge graph and ontology. - Paper accepted for the 3rd Workshop on Knowledge Graphs and Big Data in conjunction with the IEEE Big Data 2023
The paper Knowledge Graphs for Competency-Based Education by Andrea Linxen, Florian Endel, Simone Opel und Christian Beecks is accepted for the 3rd Workshop on Knowledge Graphs and Big Data In conjunction with the IEEE Big Data 2023. - Best Paper Award (pdf)
Maike Holtkemper, Maria Potanin, Alexander Oberst and Christian Beecks have received the Best Paper Award of the Business Intelligence & Analytics Division of LDWA 2023 for their paper Risk Identification of Data Science Projects: A Literature Review. Congratulations! - LDWA-Conference Marburg
What are the main risks of data science projects and how do they differ from risks of software engineering projects? - HDI Conference
Ms. Linxen presented our paper “Piloting a competence network based on the Four Component Instructional Design model for data science teaching” on September 14, 2023, at the tenth conference for higher-education didactics (HDI 2023) in Aix-en-Chapelle. This work presents the integration of the learning taxonomy by Anderson and Krathwohl with the 4C/ID instructional design model to develop a competency-based curriculum for data science courses. - DELFI-Conference, Aix-la-Chapelle
Congratulations to Ms. Stephanie Ebbing on her successful participation in the demo session of the DELFI conference on September 12, 2023. Supported by her supervisor Andrea Linxen from the data science department, Ms. Ebbing presented a chatbot with modular teaching styles she developed as part of her bachelor's thesis. The chatbot, based on the Rasa framework, guides students through an exploratory data analysis that explores the sales figures of a major American retail chain. The chatbot encourages students to explore the data independently in three different phases with varying degrees of personal effort. The feedback from conference visitors was extremely positive and we congratulate Ms. Ebbing on this strong performance! - First research day of the chair of Data Science
