Virtual fireside chat with Tilman Krösche, Head of IT HAWK: "Boosting IT@University: Citizen Development, Diversity and AI"
[15.11.2023]Last week, we had the pleasure to host a new Fireside Chat for our students on the theme of Boosting IT@University with Tilman Krösche, Head of IT at HAWK (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen).
Our guest speaker kicked off the evening by outlining the essential tasks and innovative factors of an IT manager at a public university in Germany. Following his presentation, our team of doctoral researchers sparked three stimulating discussions based on their latest research:
Björn Binzer considered how low-code/ no-code platforms can be used by so-called "citizen developers" to simplify processes and reduce the burden on IT.
Kristina Kusanke and Jennifer Kendziorra discussed how to increase diversity in the IT sector, for example by inspiring women from other sectors to enter the IT field.
Fabian Walke assessed how to meet the AI transparency requirements outlined in the EU AI Act.
The presentations were followed by lively discussions among the students, the presenters and our guest, exploring both the potential transferability and the limitations of applying the research content in the university context. The event was moderated by Prof. Till Winkler.
For those seeking deeper insights into these topics and the work of our chair, detailed information can be found in the presentation slides or on our website.
A big thank you to everyone involved for making it a fantastic evening, we look forward to the next fireside chat with our students!
