A delegation of the FernUniversität visited the St. Petersburg State University of Economics

In occasion of the 15 years existing cooperation between the FernUniversität of Hagen and the St. Petersburg State University of Economics a delegation visited the Russian partner academy: the two Faculties of Business Administration and Economics allow German-speaking students in the metropolis on the Baltic Sea, to earn a double degree from two universities and at the same time to improve their career opportunities within the in the context of German-Russian economic relations. The program includes internships for Russian students that are arranged by the University of Hagen in cooperation with the Society Freunde der FernUniversität e.V.
The delegation from Hagen included Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr.-Ing. Helmut Hoyer, Prof. Dr. Ulrike Baumöl (coordinator of the dual degree program in Hagen in the Faculty of Economics), Prof. Dr. Stefan Smolnik (Supervisor of technical co-operation on e-learning), Dr. Jens Wehrmann (Head of the Examination Office Economics) Andreas Wolfrum ( Councillor for student affairs) and Dietmar Lutzny (friends society). During their visit they met with the Vice Chancellor of the St. Petersburg University, Prof. Igor Maximtsev, the President Prof. Leonid Tarasevich, the Vice-Rector Dr. Dmitry Vasilenko, the Vice Rector Prof. Irina Egorova, the director of the Institute of International Relations, Prof. Natalia Burova, the coordinator of the dual degree program Dr. Anna Kourotchkina and other representatives of the University as well as students and alumni of the dual degree program.
In various events memories were exchanged, but also the further continuation and development of the program was discussed.
Prof. Baumöl and Prof. Smolnik additionally gave a seminar on opportunities and developments of eLearning. This offer was gladly accepted by students as well as graduate students and lecturer of St. Petersburg University. The results of the lively discussions were new ideas for the further development of the proven and successful cooperation to be intensified in October with a return visit of a Russian delegation.
Other activities in the context of the cooperation anniversary are the “St. Petersburger Unternehmergespräch” which will take place on September 2nd at the University of Hagen as well as several visits by delegations of the St. Petersburg University in fall 2015.
