Curriculum Vitae

Jun.-Prof. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Orsolya Friedrich studied and received her doctorate in philosophy and medicine. After a doctoral fellowship (DFG) at the International Centre for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW) in Tübingen, she worked at the Faculty of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science and Religious Studies at the LMU Munich and at the Institute for Ethics in the Neurosciences, Research Center Jülich. From 2011 to 2019 she was research associate and academic councillor at the Institute for Ethics, History and Theory (EGT) of Medicine and lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science and Religious Studies, LMU Munich.
At the Institute for EGT of Medicine she headed the research area "Philosophical Foundations of Medical Ethics" and between 2016-2019 the international joint project "Interfaces" (BMBF). This interdisciplinary research group investigated the philosophical-ethical, legal and social implications of brain-computer interfaces (www.bci-ethics.de).
Since 2018 she is a deputy member of the Bavarian Ethics Commission for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnostics for the field of ethics.
Since summer 2019 she heads an Emmy Noether-Research Group (DFG), which works on conceptualizing and evaluating the phenomenon of interaction in human-machine interactions, its qualitative innovations and their consequences for individuals and society. The project also has a strong focus on the ethics of artificial intelligence (AI).
