University 4.0 - Challenges and Opportunities
Project with the King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (Thailand)
DAAD Hochschulberaterprogramm
The project is promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
Goal of the Project
Currently, the terms Industry 4.0, lndustrial Internet and Internet of Things are frequently heard buzzwords. At the moment, real innovations are necessary, which can to a large extent be brought about by information processing systems working autonomously on devices and network nodes of any kind. Mobility and new generations of ubiquitous devices make especially mobile computing a key issue to master future challenges.
Universities are in a front position to make those new technologies accessible to the next generation of students in their role as future engineers and applicants. Using and understanding new technologies goes ahead with the creation of new ideas and developing new application and mechanism of action. Therefore, universities shall offer besides a well-founded theoretical education also test-beds, where young engineers can try and experience the achievements of the new technologies.
It is the goal of this consulting project to work out a comprehensive guideline for future education and infrastructural developments on the participating universities, which in this case shall combine the experiences and needs from both cultures and allow the KMUTNB to setup a test-bed called "University 4.0" for their students in a future-oriented manner.
